Nonprofits
A small staff, many visitors
At most small nonprofits, the person who updates the website also runs a program. Visitors arrive for different reasons: someone needs help and wants the hours, the address, and whether they qualify; someone wants to volunteer; someone wants to give. A redesign that needs a developer for every news item is stale within a quarter.
What the site has to do
- Give each kind of visitor one next step: get help, volunteer, give, or read the date.
- Load quickly on an old phone and a slow connection.
- Let program staff update hours, events, and news without help.
- Link to the donation processor you already use.
What we will not assume
We will not add a donation tool you do not have. If you already take gifts through a processor, the page links to it. If you do not, taking payments is its own decision with its own fees, and we write it up that way. We will not propose more features than your staff can keep up.
Cost and upkeep
A fixed scope, a handover your staff can use, and care that says what a month does not include matter more than a long feature list. The engagement page has the detail. There is no rate card.
What you can look at
At Aero Design, Leonardo's work included nonprofit sites. LSCalado has not published a nonprofit client of its own. The volunteer board is a working concept for a small organization, with an invented neighborhood group.
